The Great American Cleanup / Trash Bash 2012
About the Great American Cleanup
Each spring from March to May, extraordinary acts of civic
pride and renewal take place all across the United States. Under the
leadership of Keep America Beautiful, Inc., the Great American
Cleanup™ mobilizes annually more than two million volunteers to
make their neighborhoods more beautiful, safer and healthier places
to live.
The national logo, “Green Starts Here” is representative of the
message that when we roll up our sleeves and take action in our
community, we build bonds with our neighbors as everyone unites in a
common purpose. “Green” starts with each and every one of us.
About Trash Bash 2012
For the past 29 years, individuals and groups have
joined Keep Brevard Beautiful in our community to help clean up
unsightly litter. They help remove debris from neighborhoods, parks,
roadsides, shorelines and wherever litter is found. By providing
an example of positive behavior, volunteers help change attitudes
about litter. As a result of the action taken by volunteers during
Trash Bash, our community looks clean and beautiful and there is
a sense of community pride. Sponsored by Florida Inland Navigation
District and Waste Management of Florida, Inc., Trash Bash is an
event supported by the Brevard County Commissioners and all municipalities
in the county. A spirit of friendly competition prevails to recruit
volunteers and reduce the most litter on March 17, 2012. The best
reward is NO UGLY LITTER.
We would like to thank all the students who sent in their art
work for the T-Shirt Design Contest. The contest winner this
year is Melissa Chambers, a student at Rockledge High School.
Congratulations, Melissa! Her artwork is displayed below.
